Sweet, Brave Mother

Oh Mother,
right there in the middle of everything
lies the eternal mystery.
Even through the great understanding,
the mystery holds fast,
giving shape and purpose
to all that comes and is.
Why?

Oh Mother,
our own brave warrior explorer,
going again and again
into the depths of the unknown,
to renew the eternal quest,
to follow the impulse towards a new
form.
Why?

Oh Mother,
great shifter, bring us the future!
Your forgiveness is limitless,
as you pull forth and hold up
every day,
every minute,
our second chance,
our hope,
our salvation .
Why?

Oh Mother,
dearest provider,
speak to us of what only you can speak:
of time
       and patience,
of the great space
       and body,
of our great love
       and vulnerability,
of our great fear
       and responsibility.
Yes.

Oh Mother,
sweet, brave mother,
pick us up
and carry us
in your wide wisdom
to that place we long to go,
Oh Mother,
take us home.
